Growth and production of garlic (Allium sativum L.) in the lowland on various types of mulch

Abstract This study aims to determine the effect of mulch treatment on growth and production garlic ( Allium sativum L.) in lowlands. The research was conducted Lempong Village, Bola District, Wajo Regency located 78 m above sea level (asl) with an average temperature 24ºC - 33ºC. set using a Split Plot Design (SPD) varieties as main plots consisting highland (var. Lumbu Hijau) lowland Putih) while types were subplots control (no mulch), black silver plastic mulch, rice straw Gliricidia sepium ) leaves banana mixed stem mulch. Each combination repeated 3 times. results show that Putih variety had better than Hijau parameters plant height, number leaves, cloves per tuber. Straw showed best suppressing soil (28.5ºC). Banana type compared other mulches interaction between leaf produced highest hectare (1.6 ton ha −1 ).
